If there was abuse on Instagram, it's never good for any human being in the world. But it is something we cannot control."

Maresca said: "I spoke with Wes yesterday. He is very, very happy. First of all because he is back from injury. He is joining all the sessions with us. He is very happy. Alexander Isak saga compared to Gareth Bale & Luka Modric's Tottenham exits as Newcastle sent Daniel Levy warning

Alexander Isak's Newcastle United transfer saga has been compared to Gareth Bale and Luka Modric's past exits from Tottenham.

  • Isak wants Newcastle transfer move
  • Saga compared to Bale & Modric's Spurs exits
  • Magpies sent Levy warning
Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Amid Isak's efforts to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool, former Arsenal defender William Gallas believes there are similarities with this situation and when Modric and Bale left Tottenham for Real Madrid in 2012 and 2013, respectively. The ex-France international also opened up on Spurs chairman Daniel Levy's efforts to keep the duo, in a warning of sorts to the Magpies.

  • Getty Images Sport

    WHAT GALLAS SAID

He told Gambling Zone: "I think what Newcastle tried to do is what Daniel Levy tried to do many times with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. But with those two, the situation hadn’t come this far. They were still training. They weren’t in the newspapers. They were professional. It wasn’t a saga. Newcastle have to be careful. Hugo Ekitike scored twice already, and Liverpool won their game. So they have to be careful about how they handle it from here, because if Newcastle ask for a ridiculous price, Liverpool could walk away from the table and then you have a situation where the player is in limbo and Newcastle will probably have to accept less money for him in January while also having a weaker squad for the first half of the season."

When asked if the Isak situation was similar to Bale and Modric's transfers, the former Spurs man added: "I don't know with Gareth, but with Luca. I know it was hard for him. He was furious that his move dragged on. He was very angry with Daniel Levy. When you look at the situation of Alexander Isak, we all know he wants to leave the club. The club wants to keep him, but he won’t train. He’s trying to force his way out, but that’s not the best way to leave the club. Because when you leave, and join a new club, you have to be ready physically. You don’t want to be out of shape for your first day with your new team-mates. If you move, you still have to train with your current club."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

After Newcastle rejected an offer for Isak from Liverpool, along with expressing their disappointment at the Swede's antics, manager Eddie Howe said on Friday that this saga is "coming to an end". Whether the former Real Sociedad man gets his dream Anfield move remains to be seen.

    WHAT NEXT?

Despite criticising Isak's actions, including going on strike, Gallas believes Newcastle should allow him to leave.

He added: "I think the way Isak has handled this, it looks like he’s been given bad advice from his circle. Simple. (The current situation) That is (a result of) bad advice from his people. But at the same time, listen, I won't only blame him because I also think that Newcastle must take some responsibility for what is happening here.  I'm not sure I agree with the approach the club has taken. The player has scored loads of goals every season.

"Last season, he hit more than 20 goals. You’re going to double your money for him with Liverpool’s offer. He gave everything to Newcastle in those last few years, and sometimes you have to let players leave at that point. It doesn’t seem fair to make his life so hard when a huge offer comes in. Some players really don’t care about the clubs they play for, and think only about themselves. They don’t see it as clubs giving them the opportunity, and they don’t think fine, I’ll stay another year. You can’t say that Isak hasn’t given everything for Newcastle since he joined the club. Some of his teammates, if a big club comes knocking, rather than staying for another year and paying the club back, they may be encouraged to act like he has done to ensure that they get a move. Ultimately, Newcastle should let him go."

Roony Bardghji may be on his way out of Barcelona already as La Liga champions seek solution to registration issues with Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Martin left waiting

Barcelona’s ongoing financial fair play crisis has complicated things for Roony Bardghji's registration, putting his future in doubt already.

Barcelona find themselves in a frustrating and all-too-familiar position as they struggle to register players with La Liga. Despite having already signed several new players, the club failed to register the likes of defender Gerard Martin, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and winger Bardghji for the start of the season. The administrative delays have left manager Hansi Flick exasperated, according to AS, with a possible transfer in the works for the Swedish player.

The situations of the three unregistered players are all linked but have different complexities. The club have a good prognosis for Martin's registration, which is expected to be completed as soon as Oriol Romeu finalises his contract termination. Similarly, Szczesny's registration is contingent on goalkeeper Inaki Pena renewing his contract and going on loan, thus taking at least a chunk of his wages off their books. However, the case of Bardghji is the most complicated. His registration can only happen if Barce secure additional income or makes an unexpected sale. While Bardghji has reportedly told Flick he has no intention of leaving, the club are exploring the possibility of loaning him out, potentially back to Copenhagen.

DID YOU KNOW?

Bardghji only joined Barca from Danish side Copenhagen this summer and was expected to play a limited role in his first season given he is only 19 years old and faces immense competition for a place in the team.

Bayern Munich chief explains deadline day move for 'enthusiastic' Nicolas Jackson after transfer for Chelsea striker initially fell through

Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl added that Nicolas Jackson "will be an asset" for the club, after all signs pointed towards Chelsea blocking the deal.

Jackson joins Bayern on loanCompletes move after Chelsea seemed to call it offEberl excited about the striker's arrivalFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern can breathe a sigh of relief after successfully signing Jackson from Chelsea on deadline day on Monday. The Bavarians' director of sport Eberl has spoken out and credited the striker for his enthusiasm and determination to ensure the deal was never completely ruled out, despite Chelsea attempting to block the move.

AdvertisementGetty/GOALTHE BIGGER PICTURE

Jackson was on the brink of completing a high-profile loan move to the Allianz Arena, after the Bundesliga giants agreed to pay a €15 million (£13m/$18m) fee, with an option to buy him outright next summer. The Senegalese international had already arrived in Germany for his medical when Chelsea abruptly pulled the plug, revoking his permission to proceed following news of Liam Delap’s injury.

Determined to secure the switch, the 24-year-old refused to return to London, holding out hope that Bayern would persuade the Blues to finalise the deal. However, his hopes were dashed as the German champions officially withdrew from negotiations on Sunday.

Jackson, who had been seeking a fresh start after falling out of favour under manager Enzo Maresca, was eventually rewarded for his persistence. Chelsea responded by terminating Marc Guiu’s loan at Sunderland to bolster their attacking options, thereby paving the way for Jackson’s exit. With Bayern eager to find reliable cover for Harry Kane, "top secret negotiations", just hours after the operation was considered to be dead, resurrected the move.

WHAT MAX EBERL SAID

Speaking to , Eberl said: "Nicolas was enthusiastic about playing for FC Bayern from the very beginning, which makes us all the more pleased that it ultimately worked out. He has already gained a lot of experience at the top international level at such a young age and has shown his qualities. With his dynamism and presence, Nicolas fits our requirements profile very well. He is hungry, will expand our offensive options with his skills, and will immediately be an asset to our team."

It is understood that Bayern have now paid a €16.5m (£14m/$20m) loan fee, with an obligation to buy for €65m (£56m/$76m) next summer. A contract has already been signed until 2031, with Jackson set to pocket a €14m (£12m/$16m) yearly salary if all performance-based bonuses are paid. The marksman will be expected to make his debut for Die Roten on September 13 against Hamburger.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rashford spent time on loan with Villa last season, but a purchase option was not taken up. He is now on the books of La Liga giants Barcelona. Sancho is another member of the infamous “bomb squad” at United that will be allowed to leave on loan after entering the final year of his contract – with the Red Devils still holding a 12-month extension option.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Villa are in the market for more attacking additions after passing on Rashford and allowing Leon Bailey to link up with Roma. Sancho spent last season with Chelsea, helping them to Conference League glory while making 41 appearances in all competitions.

No permanent deal was agreed there either, with Chelsea paying to cancel a purchase obligation. Sancho has made 83 appearances for United since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, with the last of those coming in the 2024 Community Shield. He registered just 12 goals for the Red Devils.
