It was another extremely successful season for Manchester City and their troops. 2018/19 saw them clinch another Premier League title and Kevin De Bruyne, despite missing a big chunk of it, was an integral part as always.

Reports have stated that Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud wanted to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic for Sheffield United on loan back in January 2018, but his suggestions were rejected.

Instead, the Serbian ended up at Fulham and tore the Championship apart, but this attempted transfer shows exactly why the Saudi royalty would be Chris Wilder’s worst nightmare.

On the pitch

Undoubtedly Mitrovic would have been an incredible acquisition on paper. He proved that he is one of the deadliest strikers in the Championship when he signed for Fulham, and he may well have propelled the Blades to a playoff spot that season.

He’s strong, hard-working and clinical in the box, but for Sheffield United it would have been a bad fit as the Serbian is the opposite of what Wilder has been looking for.

Wilder’s nightmare

As much as Mitrovic is a fantastic player, he has a proven track record of ill-discipline both on and off the pitch. Indeed, he was the driving factor for Fulham’s promotion that season, but that may not have been possible to achieve had he not been working under fellow Serbian Slavisa Jokanovic.

With the importance that Wilder places on team spirit, Mitrovic may well have been the worst player to bring to Bramall Lane at that point in time. He very easily could have disrupted the harmony amongst the squad and been more of a hindrance than a help.

Wilder has previously stated that he doesn’t like having players bought for him, and if the Prince wants to disrupt change the system by calling the shots himself it could lead to the 51-year-old becoming unhappy at the club.

The Prince was right about Mitrovic being a great player, but Sheffield United under Wilder is in a unique place where being a technically good footballer isn’t the most important thing to the manager – it’s about how you will fit into the squad.

وسبق أن انتقد كلوب التحكيم بسبب عدم حصول ساديو ماني على ركلة جزاء أمام ساوثهامبتون في وقت سابق من الشهر الجاري.

وأدلى كلوب بتصريحات أمس ردًا على كلاتنبرج قبل مباراة الغد (لمطالعة التفاصيل من هنا).

ولكن كلاتنبرج لم يكتفِ بذلك بل تحدث عن الأمر مرة أخرى في مقالته بصحيفة “ديلي ميل” الإنجليزية حيث قال: “يقول كلوب إنه لا يمتلك المهارات اللازمة لألعاب العقل، إذن هذا هو نفس كلوب الذي يقف ويحدق في استعدادات الخصم قبل المباراة؟ هو يعرف ما يفعله، إنه ذكي بشكل لا يُصدق، لهذا السبب هو أحد أفضل المدربين لدينا في الدوري الإنجليزي”.

وأضاف: “حاول كلوب ذات مرة أن يحدق بي قبل المباراة، هذا جيد، لديه حضور وهالة يستغلها لصالح فريقه، لكن ما قصدته بحديثي عن تصريحات كلوب بشأن عدد ركلات الجزاء الخاصة بـ مانشستر يونايتد مقارنة بـ ليفربول، أعتقد أنه كان يحاول الدخول إلى رأس الحكم قبل مباراة غدًا الكبيرة”.

وواصل: “لقد لاحظت كيف لم نشهد مثل هذه الألعاب الذهنية الصارخة منذ عهد فيرجسون، كلوب نفى وقال بأنه ليس السير أليكس، ولكن لماذا ذكر عدد ركلات جزاء مانشستر يونايتد على وجه التحديد؟ لا أعرف ما إذا كان يتهم لاعبي مانشستر بالغطس أو غير ذلك، هو يعرف دوافعه”.

وأوضح المصدر في تصريحات خاصة لـ”بطولات” أن مختار استقال نظرًا لسلسلة الهزائم التي تلقاها فريق الإنتاج خلال الفترة الماضية.

وكشف المصدر خلال تصريحاته أن مجلس إدارة نادي الإنتاج الحربي قد وافق على استقالة المدير الفني مختار مختار.

According to The Sun, Arsenal boss Unai Emery will urge the club’s board to push the boat out on their summer budget in order to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

What’s the word?

The report claims that despite the north London side’s limited transfer budget, Emery will push for a deal for the 26-year-old and that he would be expected to cost at least £55m.

It adds the Gunners are keen on bringing in another home-grown talent following Aaron Ramsey’s departure to Juventus and that Emery sees Zaha as “central” to his summer rebuild.

A cutting edge

Last season Arsenal were crying out for an out-and-out winger, capable of taking players on and feeding their two predatory strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Instead, the club’s most potent attacking weapon from out wide came from left wing-back Sead Kolasinac.

It’s therefore been no surprise to see reports linking the Gunners with a move for a winger, with Bournemouth assist-king Ryan Fraser seemingly a prime target. A move for Zaha though, at whatever the price, could be a significant game-changer.

The Ivory Coast international scored ten times and added ten assists for Crystal Palace in the Premier League last year; in contrast, Arsenal’s current wide options Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi managed to score nine times between them.

Emery’s side looked toothless from out wide, seemingly having a single game-plan of trying to play Kolasinac in behind the opposition full-back. The Bosnian was a powerful presence but his inconsistencies were often infuriating and it just increased the creative and goal-scoring burden on the likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang.

But Zaha could change all that. The 5 ft 11 attacker is amongst the best in the business when it comes to his directness on the ball and averaged 3.4 dribbles per game last season. The more tentative Iwobi and Mkhitaryan both averaged less than half that.

Having someone who can beat a man or two would open the game up for Arsenal’s dynamic duo up front and could even be a saving grace for Mesut Ozil’s career too. The German thrives when he has time and space on the ball but with movement so static out wide, the former Real Madrid man just looks all at sea and can get lost.

Zaha’s potential arrival however would bring some much-needed pace, movement and trickery. And it could potentially unleash Arsenal’s current attacking trio too.

وعن أحمد فتوح: “لدي قناعة به منذ زمن، من وقت انضمامه إلى الزمالك وانا توقعت له أنه سيلعب أساسيا للفريق ولمنتخب مصر، وعليه أن يركز طوال الوقت، ويعي أن لعبه في مركز ظهير أيسر الأبيض لابد أن يكون له بصمة”.

وواصل: “وإن شاء الله مستواه الذي أعرفه يظهر أكثر الفترة المقبلة، خاصة وأنه يمتلك امكانيات عالية جدا”.

واستكمل: “أحمد فتوح هو الظهير الأيسر الوحيد حاليا في مصر الذي يلعب في مركزه بشكل أساسي ولديه الأسهم الأكبر في الانضمام لمنتخب مصر، لا أعلم لماذا هذا المركز لا يتوفر في مصر، هناك شئ خاطئ، هناك مشكلة كبيرة ولا أجد لها حل، أتمنى أن نهتم بقطاع الناشئين لنصعد لاعبين في هذه المراكز الحساسة”.

واستدرك: “علي معلول يؤدي بشكل رائع في مركز الظهير الأيسر، ولكني أتمنى أن أجد لاعبا مصريا يجيد في هذا المركز وليس أجنبيا”.

وبسؤاله، هل سيتم تعينك مديرا لشئون لاعبي نادي الزمالك؟: “لايوجد معلومة لدي بشأن هذا الأمر، انا قلت أن أحد الأشخاص في الزمالك إتصل بي وأخبرني أنه يريدني معه، وسيتحدث مع المسؤولين وبعد ذلك لم يحدث تواصل”.

وعن ملف مصطفى محمد: “رأيي الفني هو رحيله بعد أولمبياد طوكيو، ولكن يبدو أن الزمالك يمر بأزمة مالية ويريد خروج اللاعب خلال هذه الفترة من أجل حل الأزمة، مصطى ملتزم وإبن النادي ويؤدي، أعلم أن لديه طموح وله قناعاته الشخصية، وانا لست ضده، ولكن السؤال هل لو رحل الزمالك سيضم بديله بنفس امكانياته؟”.

Leeds United have been linked with plenty of players this summer, but a recent transfer rumour has seen QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo mentioned as a potential recruit.

Luongo has proven himself to be a good player at this level, winning QPR’s Supporters’ Player of the Year award for the 2017/18 season after scoring six goals from midfield.

Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly pretty set on having Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich in his engine room with both players starting more than 40 games last season, so there are grounds to suggest this may be a rather unnecessary signing.

With that in mind, it’s tough to decipher though whether or not Luongo would be a good addition. On one hand he has quality at this level, but on the other he may struggle to start over Klich or Phillips and there’s no concrete evidence on how he’d perform in the Premier League.

Surely promotion is the ultimate goal at Elland Road right now, so judging whether players can make the step up to the top flight if Leeds get there should be a key consideration for any signings going forward too.

“Luongo wouldn’t be a glamorous signing but he certainly has the ability to make an impact for Leeds and as a result, they should be trying to pursue him this summer. The Australian only scored three goals and claimed four assists last term for QPR but that probably isn’t a fair reflection of his quality. The 26-year-old is a seasoned professional with 42 international caps and as he approaches his prime, this could be a shrewd signing. After all, this is a player who was once on the longlist for the Ballon d’Or. Surely that is enough to peak Leeds’ fans interest? Bielsa should make a move if the price is right.”

“Leeds United should steer clear of Luongo, as he would only block Jamie Shackleton’s path when it comes to regular first-team minutes. The 19-year-old showed glimpses of the quality that he can bring to the middle of the park with two starts in the Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County, and the addition of Luongo could only serve to push him back down the pecking order.

The Australian certainly hasn’t been an outstanding performer for Queens Park Rangers at this level by any means – he has 10 goals and 16 assists in 152 appearances in all competitions for the west London outfit – and he would face a battle to displace the likes of Phillips and Klich from the starting XI himself should he arrive at Elland Road.

What he would bring is some battling qualities given he has picked up an impressive 20 league bookings in the last two seasons for QPR. Victor Orta though, must look for someone better.”

“On the surface Luongo seems like the perfect player to sign with Phillips’ future still uncertain, as the QPR man averages 3.1 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game to Phillips’ 2.6 tackles and 1.3 interceptions. However, Luongo completes just 71% of his passes and only 2.5 long balls per game, while the Leeds man finds a white shirt with 82% of his passes and launches an impressive 4.6 long balls. If the club are indeed searching for a Phillips replacement this summer, then they need one with superior technical quality to Luongo, who could struggle in Bielsa’s free-flowing possession-based system.”

Tottenham Hotspur fans are keen to see a deal completed for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer.

Spanish outlet AS reported on Friday that Spurs are closing in on a move for the player, with Mauricio Pochettino said to have helped convince the player to make a season long loan switch.

Ceballos is a rising star at the Spanish giants having made 27 appearances for the club last term.

However, at a stage of his career when he needs more regular week-to-week action, AS say that Spurs can offer the 22-year-old an important role in the squad, allowing him to make more starts than he’d get in Madrid.

As you’d expect from a Spain international, his passing is crisp, penetrative and accurate, completing 92.1% of his La Liga passes last term, per WhoScored.

At the recent U21 European Championships he provided two assists, averaging 2.8 key passes per match and helping his country lift the trophy.

وتعرض محمد هاني للإصابة أمس الثلاثاء، خلال مواجهة الأهلي لنظيره بيراميدز على ملعب الدفاع الجوي، ضمن منافسات الأسبوع العاشر من بطولة الدوري الممتاز، والتي انتهت بالتعادل السلبي بدون أهداف.

أكد حسن يسري المشرف على كرة اليد بنادي الزمالك، أن الفريق لم يحصل على مستحقاته المادية منذ فترات كبيرة، كاشفًا عن عدم صحة رواية نائب رئيس اللجنة المكلفة بالقلعة البيضاء التي أوضح في خضمها تمسكه باللاعبين.

وقال يسري في تصريحات تلفزيونية لفضائية “الزمالك” عبر برنامج “زمالكاوي”: “فريق يد الزمالك حالة خاصة، حدثت معنا مشكلات كثيرة خاصة بالمستحقات قبل ذلك ومرت بسلام، لكن اللاعبين الآن عليهم التزامات كثيرة، ونحن نضغط عليهم بصورة غير طبيعية، والضغط يولد الانفجار”.

وواصل: “تم صرف راتب شهري 7 و8 في شهر 10 الماضي، وكان من المفترض أن يحصلوا على مقدم عقودهم في شهر 8 الماضي، ولكن لم يحدث، اللاعبون لهم رواتب 7 أشهر متأخرة، بالإضافة إلى المكافآت القديمة”.

وبسؤاله.. هل قال إبراهيم عبد الله نائب اللجنة التي تدير النادي، للاعبين من أراد الرحيل فليرحل؟، رد: “سألت اللاعبين هل قال ذلك، أجابوا بنعم ولكن ليس بنفس الطريقة”.

يذكر، أن عبد الله قد نفى في تصريحات أمس قوله للاعبي فريق اليد من أراد الرحيل فليرحل.

واستكمل: “علاقة فريق يد الزمالك بالجمهور والنادي كبيرة، لا أحد يستطيع أن يقول لهم -الباب يفوت جمل-، لأن لهم رصيد كبير وممكن يكون إبراهيم عبد الله قال هذه الجملة، لكن أنا لم أسمعها أثناء تواجدي في الاجتماع”.

واختتم: “الزمالك ليس له إلا أبنائه الشرعيين، أبناء الزمالك يقفون معه في الأزمات والشدائد وليس في وقت الفرح فقط”.
