To say that Steve Bruce has done a good job would be somewhat of an understatement, wouldn’t it? Sheffield Wednesday have been great under his watch and that stretches back until January, a show of how far this team have quickly come.

With the play-offs still being the faintest of possibilities, Wednesday cannot stop believing and must entrust the manager who has taken them so far already. To think that they were nearer to the drop zone than the top six when Steve Bruce took over is a testament to his ability and the team’s turnaround in performances.

For that to continue past this season though, you Steel City giants clearly must ensure the vast majority of influential players are kept and new, improved squad players are added.

As one of the main men, there is no way the Owls can sanction the sale of Adam Reach and he must continue playing a valuable part to the team. Reach, (who is valued at £3.6 million on Transfermarkt) is a top professional that has been sensational for Sheffield Wednesday this season.

After interest surrounded him in January, the sale of their influential wide man must be avoided at all costs, especially if promotion is a realistic aim. Indeed, even if there is a shock return to the Premier League, the team needs to be built around him, whatever the division.

Not going up shouldn’t lead to his sale. It just can’t.

There is no doubt that Sheffield Wednesday are a far greater side with him in it and now Reach has made the peak age of 26, the Owls can only expect things to get better for him.

Whether it’s scoring from distance, breaking up play or assisting his team-mates, Adam Reach has the quality in every aspect of the game to make a real difference and he must remain at Hillsborough for good things to happen.

Former West Ham United striker Marlon Harewood has hailed crocked striker Andy Carroll and insists he can prove his critics wrong, per Sky Sports News.

The former Newcastle United and Liverpool forward is likely to be out for the remainder of the season after sustaining another ankle injury.

What’s he said?

Carroll has played 90 minutes just once this season, in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. In that game, the forward wore the captain’s armband and it could well prove to be his final ever appearance for the Irons.

His current contract expires in the summer but the Hammers do have the option to extend that should they so wish.

Carroll, though, has scored once this season, in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Birmingham City, having netted a mere three times last term.

But Harewood believes that he can prove his critics wrong, having played alongside the forward at Newcastle United a decade ago.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Andy can give any defender problems, and I loved playing with him and feeding off him.

“We formed a really good partnership. He’s since had rotten luck with injuries but Andy is still a top-class player.

“He is one of the best headers of a ball in the Premier League but the key is getting him fit and back on the pitch.

“The setbacks must be really hard for him but that’s football. I hope he bounces back and has a really good year to silence some of his critics.”

Harewood clearly believes his mate is good at football.

And he may well be, but the fact of the matter is this: he has precious little chance of earning his way back into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

He simply doesn’t have the ability, the goalscoring nous, and most importantly the fitness to truly make a mark in the Premier League anymore.

Once upon a time, Carroll was an exceptional striker who travelled with England to Euro 2012 and scored a truly brilliant header against Sweden.

Now he is pretty much finished, permanently on the treatment table and soon to be consigned to the scrapheap.

Harewood should face facts and accept that.

Is there another club in world football that have more strikers than Sheffield Wednesday?

Probably not.

Steve Bruce has a total of seven forwards at his disposal with one, in particular, staking his claim during Tuesday’s 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest. After 12 games without a start in the Championship, Marco Matias was brought into the side as part of a front-three at Hillsborough and made a superb impact against the Reds.

Knowing that only a victory would keep his side in contention for a play-off position, the Portuguese marksman took the game by the scruff of its neck and fired home a stunning striker from range in the 47th minute. George Boyd then doubled the Owls’ lead before Matias secured all three points with his second.

With his contract expiring in the summer (according to Transfermarkt), the 29-year-old’s performance was a clear statement to Steve Bruce that he should consider offering him a new deal. Used in a number of different positions this season, Matias, who is valued at £1.35 million (by Transfermarkt), has demonstrated an outstanding level of versatility which has undoubtedly benefited his side, especially since the arrival of their new manager.

Indeed, the fact that he has only scored six goals in 26 appearances in the Championship during the current campaign suggests that he needs to sharpen up in-front of goal. However, if he is given the opportunity to play under Bruce over a period of 46 games, Matias may improve his output, especially if the Owls bolster their creative options in the upcoming transfer window.

If the former Nacional ace backs up his performance against Forest in Wednesday’s final five fixtures, he will undoubtedly create a situation where his boss has no other choice but to extend his stay in Yorkshire for the foreseeable future.

It has been quite the fall from grace for Rolando Aarons in recent years hasn’t it?

The winger was tipped for greatness at Newcastle United after making a fantastic start to his career in 2014 with his performances earning him a regular spot in the England Under-20 set-up. However, a myriad of injury problems resulted in his development stalling over the next three years with Aarons only making sporadic appearances for the Magpies.

In need of regular first-team action, he decided to join Italian side Hellas Verona on a short-term loan in January 2018 yet despite making 11 appearances for the club, he was unable to prevent them from being relegated to Serie B last season. After briefly returning to Tyneside, he was shipped out once again at the start of the campaign yet failed to impress for Czech side Slovan Liberec in the first-half of the year. Nevertheless, upon hearing of his availability, Steve Bruce decided to bring him to Hillsborough, a move which unfortunately hasn’t paid off.

Although Aarons did make a bright start to his Sheffield Wednesday career by producing stand-out performances against the likes of Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers, he has missed the last three games after picking up an ankle injury in the warm-up before last month’s 0-0 draw with Stoke City (via the Star). With Bruce not knowing whether the winger will be able to return before the end of the season, it is more than likely that he could have already played his final game for the Owls. Despite Aarons clearly being blessed with undeniable talent, it is simply not worth the risk of trying to secure a permanent deal for him as he is far too injury-prone.

Therefore, with this in mind, it could be worth Bruce going down another avenue in the summer transfer window to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

وقال بنداري في تصريحات تلفزيونية بفضائية “أون تايم سبورت”: “مراقب المباراة لم يذكر أي شيء بخصوص الواقعة”.

وأضاف: “شكاوى كل من محمد فضل وكهربا تم تحويلهما إلى التحقيق، واستمع المستشار أحمد مصطفى لأقوال محمد فضل وطلب سماع كهربا أيضًا”.

وأردف: “تصالح الطرفين اليوم وتنازل فضل لا يعني تغافل لجنة الانضباط عن الأسلوب غير الرياضي، أو عدم استمرار التحقيق، والواقعة مازالت قيد التحقيقات”.

واختمم بنداري: “لن نسمح بطغيان أي سلطة، ولم أبلغ بحفظ الواقعة رسميًا، وما زال يتم التحقيق ولا يوجد من هو فوق اللائحة”.

Michael Hector has had a season to remember for Sheffield Wednesday, hasn’t he Owls fans?

The central defender moved to Hillsborough last summer on loan from Chelsea and was one of a minuscule number of players who actually impressed during the torrid tenure of Jos Luhukay.

Following the Portuguese manager’s departure from the club in December, Hector has been at the heart of a footballing revolution in West Yorkshire which has been led by Steve Bruce.

Since the 58-year-old’s arrival at Wednesday, the club have lost just twice in 16 outings with their impressive run of form over the past few months giving them an outside chance of reaching the play-offs in May.

Although it is extremely unlikely that the Owls will be playing in the Premier League next year, it is overwhelmingly clear that regardless of what division they find themselves in, they must permanently sign Hector when the transfer window opens in July.

Without the domineering presence of the Jamaican international, it could be argued that Wednesday would be nowhere near the top ten in the second tier.

Having delivered incredible defensive displays against the likes of Sheffield United, Derby County and Bristol City over the past two months, Hector has demonstrated a level of leadership that could be hugely beneficial in the future for the Owls.

With Chelsea facing the prospect of not being able to sign players until 2020 (via Sky Sports) after breaking FIFA transfer rules, they may be open to letting the defender leave in the summer as they look to cut down their squad at Stamford Bridge.

If this is indeed the case, Wednesday must not hesitate if Hector becomes available as passing up on the chance to bring him in, could turn out to be a huge mistake.
