Celtic left it late to scrape past Dundee on Sunday, and fans want nothing to do with loan signing Jeremy Toljan after another woeful display.

The Bhoys moved ten points clear at the top of the league on Sunday, with Odsonne Edouard scoring the game’s only goal deep into stoppage time.

Neil Lennon’s side were frustrated throughout the afternoon at Dens Park, and despite dominating most of the match they could have fallen behind when Scott Wright raced through and was denied by Scott Bain.

James Forrest set up the winner for Edouard, with Dundee now in serious danger of the drop sitting just one point clear of St Mirren.

While plenty of Celtic players will be unhappy with their performance, no one played worse than Toljan, who is doing a pretty awful job of convincing the club to make his loan move into a permanent one.

The 24 year-old was touted as a youngster with huge potential when he first broke through at Borussia Dortmund, making 18 appearances for Germany’s Under-21 side.

He moved to Parkhead on a temporary deal until the end of the season, but was really poor on Sunday and not for the first time. While Dortmund did not want to sell him on a permanent basis in January, the defender said he will wait to see what happens as regards to a potential summer move.

Fans are now practically begging the club not to make his loan move into a long-term deal, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…

وأكدت تقارير صحفية أن برشلونة واصل مفاوضاته مع السيتي حتى الساعات الماضية ورفع عرضه لضم جارسيا (طالع التفاصيل).

ويوضح الصحفي فابريزيو رومانو، أن جارسيا أخبر مجلس إدارة مانشستر سيتي أنه سينضم إلى برشلونة في يناير أو يونيو المقبل كوكيل حر.

ويريد إريك العودة للبارسا، وقد غادر برشلونة في عام 2017 وانتقل للسيتي حينها.

يذكر أن عقد جارسيا مع مانشستر سيتي سينتهي في يونيو 2020.

This makes a change, doesn’t it? Normally, content expressed about Manchester City is so positive as a result of the scintillating football on show under Pep Guardiola but, it is easy to forget that in recent years, City may have brought in numerous talents, yet not all of them proved their worth.

During Guardiola’s reign, the vast majority of his signings have worked out or even exceeded expectations. With such an emphasis placed on bringing in mainly younger players for the long-term, it means, for a number of them, their development will only continue for the foreseeable future.

But beyond the Catalan boss’ time in Manchester, City have also brought in players who were quite evidently not up to standard or able to establish themselves in the side. With that being said, let’s take a look at two of City’s worst signings in the past five years…

Elaquim Mangala

Mangala joined City for a substantial fee from FC Porto in 2014 and with such a price-tag came great levels of expectation that he has never been able to live up to.

The 28-year-old has had spells of form where he would be on top of his game and one memory that sticks out, in particular, is of the Frenchman pocketing the in-form Diego Costa at the Etihad with a thoroughly dominant showing in every aspect. But, he just has not been able to retain consistency in his performances over the years with numerous mistakes or rash decision-making that cost his place in the team at times under Pellegrini.

Guardiola shipped him out to Valencia on loan in his first season, but during the Centurions campaign he was of use with so few centre-back options available- Mangala did a job and did it rather well.

An injury suffered while on loan at Everton later last season cut his campaign short and he has not been able to stake a claim for a place at City this year. For what City paid, the Frenchman has been nowhere near value for money and given that his deal was recently extended beyond the summer, he will most likely be moved on permanently so City can get a fee from his departure.

Wilfried Bony

In January 2015, Bony was signed to add depth up top for another notable fee under Pellegrini but, like Mangala, he failed to ever really gain consistency in his performances.

In his first full season with the club, he was outshone by then City-starlet Kelechi Iheanacho who was vying for Bony’s role as the second-choice striker.

Multiple injuries did not help him during his time at City but when he was playing, he did not display enough for Guardiola to keep him upon his arrival. The Ivorian was loaned to Stoke City and then, eventually, sold back to his former club Swansea City.

Manchester United fans on Twitter are absolutely livid with reports linking them to a cut-price move for Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas.

The Greek international has a release clause of just £31.5m in his contract, and will reportedly look for a move away should Roma fail to qualify for the Champions League, which has alerted the Red Devils.

However, whilst you’d think fans would be excited at the news, the majority of the 20-time Premier League champion’s supporters are livid that their club is sniffing around the cheaper alternatives, when marquee names such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Matthijs de Ligt are there for the taking.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add another centre-back to his ranks, but his reported interest in 27-year-old Manolas has not gone down well amongst the fanbase, despite the player being of Champions League and international pedigree.

أولوية الفرنسي هي الاستمرار مع ريال مدريد، لكن وفقًا لصحيفة “ديلي ستار” البريطانية، إذا لم يتوصل لاتفاق مع ريال مدريد على تجديد عقده الذي ينتهي في 2022 من الممكن أن يرحل إلى الدوري الإنجليزي.

Crystal Palace fans were surely fuming when Aaron Wan-Bissaka was denied a call-up to the England first team this month but Three Lions legend Gary Lineker has only gone and rubbed salt into the wound by excluding the young right-back from his list of upcoming talents.

The former Leicester and Barcelona forward found room for Jack Clarke, Mason Greenwood and Reiss Nelson, but Wan-Bissaka’s name was nowhere to be seen as he waxed lyrical about the both the current and next crop of England stars.

The defender has been in sensational form this campaign and is often the redeeming quality when the Eagles aren’t performing – see losses to Brighton and Watford – but he inexplicably continues to miss out on international recognition.

His exclusion from Lineker’s list will surely be like water off a duck’s back for Wan-Bissaka when the only sequence of names that matters is the one announced by Gareth Southgate whenever we have a break from club competition. وقال جاموندي خلال تصريحات إذاعية نقلتها صحيفة “le 360”: “منحنا اللاعبين يوم راحة، من أجل استعادة أنفاسهم، وتمكينهم من فرصة طي إخفاق صفحة البطولة المحلية، والتي أضعناها بعد التعادل أمام المغرب التطواني وحسنية أغادير”.

وأوضح جاموندي أن لاعبيه مطالبون بنسيان إخفاق الدوري، والتركيز والعمل بجدية أكبراستعدادا للمواجهة القوية التي ستجمعهم بالأهلي في ذهاب نصف نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا، مشددا على ضرورة تحقيق فوز كبير يضمن له دخول مباراة الإياب بشكل أفضل.

وأضاف: “فريق الوداد بات يمتلك خبرة كبيرة في إدارة المباريات الإفريقية، اللاعبون سيقاتلون من أجل انتزاع ورقة التأهل أمام الأهلي”.

يذكر أن مباراة الذهاب بين الوداد والأهلي، ستقام السبت المقبل، بمركب محمد الخامس بالدار البيضاء.

تواصل ممثلو نجم فريق باريس سان جيرمان، كيليان مبابي، مع كلًا من برشلونة الإسباني ومانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي في الفترة الماضية، حسب ما أفاد صحفي شهير في مجال الانتقالات.

ونجح اللاعب الفرنسي الشاب في جذب انتباه كبار أندية أوروبا، في ظل تألقه مع سان جيرمان ومنتخب بلاده، حيث ارتبط بأكثر من فريق مثل ليفربول وريال مدريد ويوفنتوس.

ولكن الصحفي الشهير دنكان كاسلز قال لشبكة “The Transfer Podcast” أن ممثلي مبابي كانوا على تواصل مؤخرًا مع كلًا من برشلونة ومانشستر يونايتد.

وأوضح أن والد مبابي ومستشاريه أعدوا قائمة بالأسئلة التي يرغبون في طرحها على الأندية الراغبة في ضم اللاعب، قبل أن يقرر الأخير وجهته المقبلة.

وأفاد أن تلك الأسئلة تدور حول المدربين المستقبليين للفريق، والمشروع الرياضي المستقبلي للنادي.

Celtic dealt with St Mirren comfortably on Wednesday night, but the performance of Oliver Burke revealed a glaring weakness in the Bhoys squad that Brendan Rodgers failed to address.

Tim Weah took just 15 minutes to open the scoring at The Simple Digital Arena on Wednesday, heading in from close range after Burke had missed a great chance.

The Hoops then dominated most of the match without much reward, as Olivier Ntcham saw his first half penalty saved.

Although Ryan Christie popped up with a late goal, the performance once again showed that the club is absolutely crying out for some depth at centre forward.

On the chalkboard

In Odsonne Edouard, Celtic have their main goalscoring threat secured for years to come. The youngster is lightning quick, extremely composed and most of all he just knows how to stick the ball in the net.

You can’t survive with just one striker though, and as soon as the Frenchman drops to the bench Neil Lennon is quite literally out of options up front, evidenced by the woeful showing of Burke at St Mirren, who to be fair was playing out of position.

Even Rangers have three genuine striking options in Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty. This is not to say that the Hoops are worse off, just that it is important to have different types of goalscorers in your side.

Rodgers brought in Burke, Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo in January to fix the issue, with all three expected to add goals to the side. However, Bayo has featured just once, and the two youngsters are only at the club on a temporary basis, so the problem is most definitely not solved.

People often talk about managers “playing favourites”, and for too long both Rodgers and Lennon have stuck with players like Scott Sinclair when they should have been looking to bring in fresh blood to compete up top.

Rodgers tried and failed to address it in January, and Celtic must now place a deputy for Edouard at the top of their summer shopping list. In fact, the 21 year-old will suffer if they don’t as he simply cannot keep up with the sheer amount of games that comes with being in four competitions.

Look at Harry Kane, the Spurs striker is constantly picking up ankle injuries simply because the deficiencies in their striking department means he has to play every single game whenever fit. Edouard will suffer a similar fate if the Bhoys do not address this.

وواصل كومان بشأن إمكانية مشاركة أنسو فاتي أمام ريال مدريد: “سنرى، أنا لا أفكر في مدريد بعد، سأفكر من الغد، ويمكننا أن نكون سعداء جدًا بأداء فاتي اليوم، أتمنى ألا أنام يوم الجمعة من كثرة الشكوك حول من سأعتمد عليه في التشكيل”.

وعلّق على هدفي بيدري وأنسو فاتي: “يمكننا أن نكون سعداء جدًا بتطور لاعبينا بالنظر إلى عمرهم وطريقة عملهم وأداءهم، يمكن أن يلعب بيدري في جميع المراكز، إنه ذكي، نحن سعداء جدًا وليس لهذين اللاعبين فقط، هناك مستقبل عظيم لهم وللنادي”.

وعن طرد جيرارد بيكيه، استطرد: “بالنسبة لي بيكيه يستحق بطاقة صفراء، البطاقة الحمراء وركلة الجزاء عقوبة شديدة، ومن الضروري تسليط الضوء على الطريقة التي لعب بها  الفريق بعشرة لاعبين، كما حدث بالفعل ضد سيلتا فيجو، نحن قادرون على الصمود وتسجيل الأهداف بعدد لاعبين أقل من الخصم”.

وبشأن رونالد أراخو، أشاد كومان: “أراخو يلعب بشكل جيد، في مركز قلب الدفاع هذا لدينا منافسة، أنا هادئ إذا حدث شيء للينجليه وبيكيه لأن لدينا أراخو سنعتمد عليه حينها”.

وتحدث كومان عن الدفع ببيانيتش ودي يونج مواصلاً: “اخترنا نظامًا يعتمد على جودة اللاعبين، أعتقد أنه يمكننا اللعب بشكل مثالي مع هؤلاء اللاعبين، عندما وصل بيانيتش، كان أقل من الآخرين جسديًا، دقائقه اليوم مهمة، أعتقد أن هناك منافسة وهذا أمر جيد”.

وشدد كومان: “لا يمكنك طلب المزيد من هذا الفريق في الوقت الحالي، نحن نقوم بعمل جيد، لم نفز بجميع المباريات ويمكننا التحسن، سيكون لدينا مستقبل عظيم، يجب أن نتحلى بالهدوء لأن هناك مجال للتحسين وللعب بشكل أفضل”.

وأتم المدرب الهولندي حديثه معربًا عن سعادته بقائد الفريق ليونيل ميسي: “سعداء بأداء الفريق ومن المهم أن يسجل ميسي ويصنع الأهداف، هو لا يزال جائعًا يعمل لتقديم الأداء الجيد، سجل ركلة جزاء وصنع هدفًا، أنا سعيد لوجوده في الفريق وأراه دائمًا حسن الخلق”.
